A collaboration between an established Ghanaian surgeon and poet, Prof. Lade Wosornu known for poems as “THE MASTER BREWER” and “DESERT RIVERS”, and the World Poetry Theatre Ambassador from Ghana / Creative Arts Enterpreneur, Oswald Okaitei, both active members of the Ghana Association of Writers, in recent times puts poetry/spoken word to a higher grounds.
After a successful production of the “WORSONU’S CAPSULE” a collection of poems by Prof. Lade Wosornu selected, choreographed and directed into a complete story, Oswald Okaitei takes the opportunity to stage another work of Prof. Lade Wosornu. This time, it is “ETE: A Woman of Africa”, from the Professor’s first anthology and dedicated to his late mother.
Ete, set in varying locations—local court room, hospital, market, river, final rites, etc., will be performed by a dedicated cast comprising students from the Theatre and English Language Departments of the University of Ghana, Jayee University, Accra Polytechnic, as well as budding Spoken word, dancers and music artists. The venue is again the new performance home of Oswald, Dubois Memorial Centre near the US Embassy, Cantonments—Accra.
Ete promises to be one of the best Spoken word productions ever to be seen in the country. The main attractions begin from the style and setting which the poet employed in writing the poem (i.e. dramatic form) to its wonderful and brilliant presentation on the theatrical stage. Eteis an hour long performance and is spiced with dance and music.
Furthermore, this production employs a young crew who are on the top of scenic designing, sounds, lighting, costuming/make-up among others. In this regards, the Choreographer/Artistic Director/Producer of the show who is known for his plays as ,In The Bag Of A Woman, In Man’s Libido and Beautyful Nonsense, and also the choreographer and director of the Sobolo + Chicken Poetry Show that thrilled the audience at the ETS Drama Studio, assures the audience of a guaranteed and enjoyable evening on Mother’s Day.
