On 18th March 2016, the Du Bois Memorial Centre and Values For Life will celebrate the poetry works of an astute and accomplished Ghanaian surgeon and poet, Prof Ladé Wosornu.
Prof. Ladé Wosornu’s Poetry Works To Be Enacted
He is a member of Ghana Association of Writers and the author of the popular poems: The Master Brewer and Desert Rivers.
The event, Beneath the Poetry Baobab with Prof. Ladé Wosornu, is a commemoration of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Poetry Day. It is designed to give an opportunity to the audience (academicians, other poets, lovers of poetry, students, etc.) to interact with the poet on the aspects of poetry.
Prof. Ladé Wosornu will be interviewed: his life from student days, his journey from test tubes to ink (in the Science versus the Humanities debate), his sources of creative energy, and so on.
Promoting poetry among Ghanaians is an important aspect, illustrated by the enactments of selected poems by Prof. Ladé Wosornu. Players include the Creative Writers Club of the University of Ghana, Theatre students of the University of Ghana, Play House.kom and Professional young Ghanaian Spoken word artists. All enactments were choreographed and directed by the World Poetry Theatre Ambassador from Ghana and fast rising Poet, playwright and Artistic Director, Oswald Okaitei who recently choreographed and directed the hit-maker Spoken word production, Sobolo + Chicken Poetry Show at ETS Drama Studio. Each enactment will be followed by questions and answers session.
Auxiliary activities include exhibitions of the professor’s works, Photo shoot sections to provide photo opportunities for members of the audience with Prof. among others.
